Based on the iconic '80s manga and animated film "AKIRA." Set in the apocalyptic scene of Neo Tokyo in 2019, citizens with psychic powers emerge and disrupt the status-quo with all-out destruction.
Having only seen the original animated film a handful of times, it still stands the test of time in showcasing storytelling in a dark manner with regards to drug-addiction, gang violence, intellectual status and supernatural ability. Even the unsettling “transformation” scene.
Poster design was based around wanting a stark contrast between light and dark, with very few elements being colored, namely the iconic scarf and Kanji title-text.
